Learning Prolog took me a long time and was a frustrating process. After several years of research, expermentation and trial and error, I can say that I know the language 'well'. The biggest problem I had when learning was a lack of real examples of how to use Prolog for useful applications. Most sites I come across only had the same types of examples I learnt in university that look for grandfathers and try to determine if socrates is mortal or not.
I use Prolog for lots of little apps at home and work and thought it would be good to show people the cababilities of the language. It is a useful and exciting tool in my life and I want to share that excitement with others who are interested in Prolog as well!
So this site is not an instruction on how to code in Prolog, it is a collection of small, useful programs and ideas that Prolog programmers can use and learn from. Most of these apps have been written on the bus to work, and are designed to be read on a single bus ride.
All code was written using SWI Prolog and will run using the latest version. There are a few examples that use APIs that are specific to SWI Prolog but most will work on any prolog implementation or can easily be adapted to do so.
This website is run using the SWI Prolog web server using a simple, custom built engine. Articles are written using markdown and transformed using the markdown plug in. Routing uses the arouter plugin.
All code on this website comes under the MIT licence, rather than include the licence at the top of the code, it is here for your benefit!
